Recalls: All books may be recalled from any borrower and will be due 1 week from the recall date. Only UR students, faculty and staff have recall privileges. Courtesy Borrowers may not recall books. Recalls may be placed on-line using the "Place Requests" option in the Voyager Catalog or at any UR library.
Reserves: Reserve materials are available at the Carlson Q&i Desk on the 2nd floor. Most reserve items may be borrowed for 2 hours, a few have longer loan periods such as 4 hours, 1,3,or 7 days. Unlike other River Campus Libraries, Carlson's 2 and 4 hour reserve items may not be borrowed overnight. Reserve materials borrowed from Carlson Library must be returned to the Carlson Q&i Desk.
Non-Circulating Materials: Some non-circulating materials, including Reference Books may be borrowed with the permission of a Librarian. Ask at the Carlson Q&i Desk on the 2nd floor..
Returning Library Materials: Most Carlson Library Books may be returned to any UR Library. Exceptions to this include: reserve materials, current journal issues, reference materials, maps and technical reports. These must be returned directly to Carlson Library.
Renewing Library Materials: Most Carlson Library Books may be renewed an unlimited number of times unless another borrower places a recall. Renewals can be done online or at any UR library. Special Collections have limited or no renewals. This would include Journals, Reserve Materials, books from Popular Reading, and Maps.
Fines:
- Books/Journals - No overdue fines are charged for regular loans. Until items become 30 days overdue they can be renewed on-line, at any UR library, or by phone (585-275-4488). After 30 days, replacement cost (list price; or, if out of print - $40.00) plus a processing fee ($10.00) are assessed. These fees will be waived once the materials are brought into the library for renewal or return.
- Recalled Items - $1.00/day to a maximum of $15.00.
- Reserves - 2-hour - $1.00/hour. 1,3,7 days - $1.00/day to a maximum of $30.00.
Paying Fines: Fines may be paid at the Carlson Q&i Desk using cash or personal check. If the total is more than $10.00 students may choose to have the fines transferred to their term bill.
Suspension of Borrowing Privileges:
Borrowing privileges at all UR River Campus Libraries will be automatically suspended when:
- Fines accrue to $25.00
- An item is 30 days overdue
- A recalled item is overdue
